Infotec Highlights: Healthcare IT and IT Talent Pipeline Print E-mail
The Midwest’s premier business technology conference – Infotec – features four nationally-recognized keynote speakers and nearly 100 track presenters from across the country. With the conference only weeks away, we turn our attention to two more of the tracks and sessions designed to provide attendees with skills that can be implemented as a part of a comprehensive business technology strategy. Visit infotec.org for more information about all of this year’s offerings.

Healthcare IT
In this track, national, state and local officials from leading health systems, HIEs and government organizations will discuss the implications of federal funding and public policy on new healthcare technologies and initiatives. Sponsored by
Windstream Communications, the following presenters, and so many more, will be speaking:

Dave Garets, president and CEO, HIMSS Analytics, Chicago. Garets, whose company surveys every non-federal hospital located in the United States each year, recently poured over interviews with 5,200 health system CIOs and other IT business executives. What did he learn? Garets learned where the healthcare IT industry is heading, how far hospitals have come in implemeting electronic records and how prevalent CPOE administration implementations really are, for examples.
Also scheduled are presentations from industry experts including Nebraska Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy and Bill Beighe, CIO, Santa Cruz Health Exchange and Physicians Medical Group.

IT Talent Pipeline
Attracting and retaining high-caliber IT employees is an investment in your human capital and, ultimately, your business. This track will help you learn more about the key economic and human resources factors affecting the IT industry. These sessions, and many more, are planned:

“Social Recruiting and Your Talent Acquisition Strategy." Susan Burns, chief talent strategist of Oregon-based Talent Synchronicity, understands how to best harness the tremendous power of social recruiting. By integrating social recruiting into your talent attraction strategy, you can transform your entire approach to recruiting and deliver increased value to your organization.
"Behavioral Interviewing for IT Hiring." The hiring interview is the most relied upon yet typically the most poorly completed part of the hiring process, or so says Dr. Lawrence Pfaff, a highly experienced human resource consultant for Michigan's Pffaff & Associates. Pfaff will explain why behavior-based interviewing should be the method of choice when searching for the best candidates.
