First Quarter WorkForce Index Shows Mixed Signals |

The Nebraska WorkForce Index (WFI), which compares labor availability to job availability in Nebraska, rose to 1.83 in the first quarter of 2010, a significant shift caused by a 24% increase in the number of unemployed workers at the start of the year. While the state's unemployment rate jumped from 4.4% to 5.4%, the number of job postings increased by 10% over that same period of time. The number of job postings for Q1 increased across all but four sectors. More
