How To Open A Cisco Academy At Your School PDF Print E-mail

How to Get Started

In order to have access to the Cisco Academy curriculum, your school must first seek out and establish a relationship with a Cisco Regional Academy. AIM Institute is a Cisco Regional Academy and will help you devise a training plan to get your instructors ready to deliver a powerful, state-of-the-art curriculum at your school. First, your instructors will need to attend a short Academy Instructor Orientation class where they will learn how to utilize Cisco’s online learning portal to deliver curriculum, assess student learning, post grades, and communicate with other instructors worldwide. After your instructors have completed the orientation course, they are then qualified to attend training in any of the Cisco courses that are offered at training academies nationwide.  AIM Institute teaches and sponsors Cisco Networking Courses (Discovery & Exploration), IT Essentials 1-2, and Academy Fundamentals curricula.

Instructor Training & Support Costs

The following are the estimated costs to fulfill the Local Academy requirements. Each day of Regional Academy training is a flat rate of $115/day.  The number of days training required for each academy course is as follows:
Academy Fundamentals (Instructor Orientation): 3 days
IT Essentials I: 5 days
IT Essentials II:  5 days
Networking 1—Networking Basics: 5 days
Networking 2—Routers and Routing Basics: 6 days
Networking 3—Switching Basics and Intermediate Routing: 5 days
Networking 4—WAN Technologies: 5 days

Training & Cost Example:

A school wishes to prepare a new instructor to offer the IT Essentials I course next school year. Assuming the school already owns Pentium III computers and has an internet-accessible lab, the training costs (per instructor) would be:
Instructor Orientation Course: $345
IT Essentials I Instructor Course: $575
Annual Academy Curriculum Support Fee (per year): $600

Equipment Costs:

Since each Cisco curriculum has specific equipment requirements, it is best to schedule an appointment with AIM Institute's Cisco Academy Director This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it to visit your school and help you determine necessary equipment.
