AIM's Careerlink to help Spur Growth in Southwest Nebraska |
|
|
March 2009
Many southwest Nebraska businesses can now benefit from a new AIM Institute partnership offering Careerlink.com services at reduced rates. Nebraska Rural Living Inc., on behalf of many of the communities in southwest Nebraska, has signed an agreement to help provide and subsidize AIM’s Careerlink.com job-posting service for its small- and medium-sized members.
This agreement provides a new employee recruiting venue for businesses that otherwise may not post on the Internet. And, it gives Careerlink.com the ability to provide its services in the southwest region in a more comprehensive manner, says Rod Armstrong, AIM’s vice president of strategic partnerships.
Nebraska Rural Living specializes in rural economic and workforce development for southwest Nebraska communities. The organization anticipates growth in the region despite the economy based on its experience in working with the communities over the years. However, in order to continue that growth the communities need a quality infusion of workers to match their development needs.
"Nebraska Rural Living and the South Platte United Chambers of Commerce organization and all of our members are truly excited to begin a partnership with the AIM Institute and Careerlink," says Betty Sayers, managing partner of Nebraska Rural Living. "We think it will be beneficial to businesses in southwest Nebraska and the rest of the state. Our goal is to promote the advantages of rural life and to grow our communities to fill the great opportunities we have to offer."
Nebraska Rural Living has established the website www.nebraskaruralliving.com to help attract people to the area. And now through this new partnership, AIM will provide its robust job-posting services on community websites from Hastings to McCook and on AIM’s high-traffic Careerlink.com site. Although small-to-medium-sized businesses are the target of this partnership, some of the region’s larger employers will be asked to join in to make it even more successful.
“This is a way to assist in the revitalization of the area using the latest workforce recruitment tools,” Armstrong says.
AIM, which has focused on expanding its Careerlink.com services across Nebraska, is now working with the entire high-plains region as well as the southwest region of the state. These partnerships have served to kick-start area revitalization efforts, providing the critical mass of jobs needed to capture the attention of jobseekers.
For southwest Nebraska, this partnership provides cost-efficient Internet job-posting services to enable its communities to work more effectively toward their growth goals. For AIM, this partnership has helped extend its mission to recruit talent to Nebraska throughout most of the western third of the state.
And its mission is about to be extended further. AIM is working on more partnerships that it hopes to announce soon, Armstrong says.
