2007 CBC Summer Academies PDF Print E-mail

From June to early August local high school students who participate in AIM's College Bound Clubs (CBCs) were offered a taste of college life. Spending time on campus, visiting with college students, working with professors, and networking with professionals were just a few of the benefits students gained from their Summer Academy experience.

Summer Academies Offered

The 100 students who are enrolled in CBCs in Omaha could participate in one or more of these academies:

ACT Test Preparation  – Students focused on college readiness and prepared for the ACT at University of Nebraska - Omaha / IS&T.

Technology – Maya, Flash, and Geocaching were some of the technology skills learned by the students at University of Nebraska - Omaha / PKI.

Running your own business – Students learned basic concepts about starting a business, team work, money management, marketing, strategies, and decision-making at Clarkson College.

Career Choices at Metro – Students explored some of the professional opportunities and careers that Metro Community College students can prepare for, including industrial technology, culinary arts, and criminal justice.

Volunteer Activities – Students organized fun activities for the kids at Boys & Girls Club.

Medical Professions – Students participated in hands-on activities at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
