AIM Institute actively partners with several area high schools to
help
students not only succeed in high school but to visualize a bright
future beyond graduation. Our programs are geared
towards students who have shown the potential to improve their school
performance and become the first in their families to attend college.
We have made this opportunity possible by
procuring 100 percent of the funding through grants from the U.S.
Department of
Education's Upward Bound program. Known
locally as College Bound Clubs (CBCs), AIM provides technical support
and manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of the CBC
programs.
College Bound Clubs
How do the CBC programs operate? Students participate in the following activities throughout their high school career:
- Participate in weekly support groups
- Receive academic assistance
- Attend after-school tutoring
- Have access to technology-based learning
- Work with teacher mentors
- Develop community contacts
- Visit colleges and universities
- Attend leadership seminars
As a capstone to their CBC year, students get a taste of college life
by attending summer academies for a minimum of six weeks on local college campuses. Learn More...
During the CBC's eight-year history, not only have 95 percent of
participating students gone on to college, but with their increased
motivation and the assistance of the CBC site coordinators, they have
done so with significantly more scholarship money.
