We work to expand the participation of MCIT colleges in emerging frontiers in IT, especially bioinformatics and health informatics. By working together to adapt and share instructional resources focused on these topics, we can respond to new technologies and prepare students to meet the needs of employers more rapidly.

Initiatives:

• Emerging Technologies Team – A regional Emerging Technologies Team (ETT), comprised of faculty from each MCIT college and representatives from business and industry, collaborates to develop new programs of study in bioinformatics and health informatics.

• Develop Bioinformatics and Health Informatics Skill Requirements – The ETT identifies and validates skill requirements for bioinformatics and health informatics programs.
  

• Implement Bioinformatics and Health Informatics Curriculum – The ETT identifies, adapts and implements bioinformatics and health informatics curriculum at the MCIT colleges, using distance learning and other shared resources.
