We work to promote the use of the best practices developed in conjunction with our partners to better leverage resources, standardize the quality of IT education across the region and better prepare students for four-year colleges and universities.

Initiatives:

  •  Lateral Diffusion Team– A regional Lateral Diffusion Team (LDT), comprised of faculty and student support services staff from each MCIT college, collaborates to expand a successful student-run call center, shares and validates security curriculum, and recruits women into IT programs of study.

  • Expand Student-Run Call Center – The LDT expands a successful student-run Call Center concept to benefit the entire region, providing support to students at all MCIT colleges and also to the region’s high school students.

  • Share and Validate Security Curriculum – The LDT shares and validates best practices in IT security education — ethics, cyber law, and security — and integrates them across all IT programs of study.

  • Recruit Women into IT Programs – The LDT, in partnership with the Institute of Women in the Trades, Technology and Science, consolidates best practices developed by MCIT colleges to recruit women into IT programs.  When completed in Year 3, kits to establish Women in Technology Clubs will be distributed and female mentoring programs will be implemented at each MCIT college.

  • Continue Faculty Development – Expand business and industry participation in and support of the MCIT’s successful Working Connections IT Faculty Development Institute.
