IWCC's Tech Daze Becomes More Popular Each Year – Iowa Western Community College's two-day summer event drew 65 fifth-, sixth-, and seventh-grade students from throughout southwestern Iowa to build a computer, create a web page, and program a robot. See News Story...

 

Computer Camps Just for Girls – Now girls may explore fun software tools and information technology careers at camps designed just for them. MCIT partners offering girls camps include:
  • Central Community College – High school girls are targeted at the annual Cyber Camp 4 Girls at Central's Columbus, Grand Island and Hastings, Nebraska campuses. Activities include digital photo manipulation, programming, flash animation, security basics, and careers in IT. See the Cyber Camp website... 
  • Southeast Technical Institute – Middle school girls in the Sioux Falls area can get hands-on experience using animation, moviemaking, programming and web development software. They also learn how to stay safe in cyber communities. See Brochure...

 

TANN Robotics Competition  – The Technology Academies of Northeast Nebraska (TANN), a unique partnership of area high schools and two colleges — including MCIT partner Northeast Community College, has wrapped up this year's TANN Robotics Competitions. Designed to maximize fun while helping students learn about science and technology, the two-tiered competition drew 11 high school and 5 college teams to test their robots in four increasingly difficult relay races from February through May.  See the TANN Robotics website...
