In 1991, fifteen corporations pledged sponsorship commitments to form
the Applied Information Management (AIM) Institute. These founders,
strongly motivated by a desire to foster economic development in the
region, saw information technology as key to growth and recognized
continuing education as essential to technology leadership. While
expecting direct benefits to eventually accrue, civic commitment
inspired their successful incubation and nurturing of AIM.
Today,
additional revenues supplement member contributions. AIM has been
awarded several Federal, State and Foundation grants, and continues to
pursue awards. Grants now account for more than a third of AIMs income. Fees
for services such as careerlink.com cover another third.
Still, corporate membership remains critical as the foundation for AIM
operations. Memberships unite this coalition of companies working
toward mutual goals that benefit the entire community.
