Celebrate Creativity, November 4th: One day youth conference which focused on careers in the arts at Joslyn Museum. Students toured the museum, attended a performance by the Omaha Symphony and joined other students from throughout the metro area in hands-on break out sessions related to theater and fine art.
Tomas Kubinek: Mr. Kubineck was brought to Thomas Jefferson High School for a one hour performance on November 17, 2010. Seventy five students from Wilson attended the one hour performance at Thomas Jefferson High School. The performance included magic tricks, mime, acrobatics and a question and answer session. The main message in Mr. Kubinek’s .performance was motivational. He shared with the students the idea that anything is possible and following your dreams is the best course to take in life and that life long learning is a necessity, not an option. He is fluent in 7 different languages and has traveled the world several times. He has met heads of state and loves to talk to students as well as perform with symphonies.
Kobie Boykins: A Rocket Scientist from NASA/JPL presented to the Wilson student body on Tuesday, November 23, 2010. He talked to the 7th graders first, the 6th graders second and the 8th graders last. Each of the three sessions were approximately forty minutes long, with the last 10 to 15 minutes reserved for questions/answers.
Naturally 7 Performance: The Mustang team recently visited the Holland Performing Arts Center to the superbly amazing acappella group known as Naturally 7. They heard about their career path to success, participated in on –stage demonstrations on creating various instrument sounds and marveled at the magnificent performance.
