WFI Update:
The Nebraska WorkForce Index (WFI), which compares labor availability to job availability in Nebraska, fell from 1.84 to 1.69 in the second quarter of 2010, aided by an eleven percent decrease in the number of unemployed workers from first to second quarter. The state’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.8% (from 5.4%) while the number of jobs posted also decreased slightly.
Career Field Trends:
The number of jobs posted across most sectors has INCREASED. Architecture & Construction and Manufacturing (which saw the greatest gains in the first quarter) continued to increase in the second quarter. Agriculture, Government and Public Administration and Human Services saw significant decreases in the number of jobs posted. The health sciences posted a very slight decline. "Finance and Accounting" and "Marketing", which both slightly declined last quarter, have posted gains this quarter. "Health Science" and "Law and Public Safety" showed first quarter gains, and slight losses in second quarter. Postings in "Government and Public Administration" continued to decline.
