Research Studies In order to keep current with the dynamic environment in information technology, education, and economic development, AIM participates in a variety of research-oriented activities. Our research studies focus on survey data that helps identify key characteristics of the region's information technology environment including trends in the IT department's role, technology usage, educational requirements, and workforce challenges. AIM's research efforts depend on information and ideas generated from the community. (402)345-5025 ext. 115 AIM's Most Recent Study Identifies Businesses' IT Educational Needs Respondents to AIM's latest survey would like to see the percentage of their IT workers holding bachelors and graduate degrees increase within the next five years to more than 70%, up from the current 60%. As for the academic disciplines for which employers have the most need, networking, e-commerce and telecommunications will be the major technology drivers in the near future. Ten of the 23 highest ranked applied areas fell within these three disciplines. This new study, Midwest Regional Business Requirements for Educational Services in Information Technology — A New Look , provides a detailed analysis of the region's IT educational needs. It also provides significant evidence for why educational barriers, faculty agility and preparedness, and the ever-shifting IT platform all must be addressed.
