2008 College Intern of the Year PDF Print E-mail

The Technology Celebration Award for College Intern of the Year recognizes a college or university technology student intern who has contributed substantially to his or her employing organization, has an excellent work ethic, and/or has superior technical skills deserving of recognition.

Jose Martinez
Student
University of Nebraska at Kearney

This year’s recipient for college intern of the year is Jose Martinez. Jose is a Columbian International Student at the University of Nebraska at Kearney and is currently pursuing his degree in Computer Science with a minor in Telecommunications. He was nominated by Shane Freeman, his supervisor at Intellicom. Jose exemplifies the true nature and determination of a model intern. He has shown an innovative spirit with each project and challenge presented him.

During his internship, Jose has helped improve procedures for project transitions and troubleshooting, implemented the use of a code repository and archiving system, and helped initiate Web 2.0 technologies in development.  This not only increased efficiency but has allowed multiple designers to work simultaneously on the same project.

Shortly after joining the Intellicom team, Jose became involved in one of their largest web development projects and has been the lead developer. Jose has played a major role in the project by bringing new and exciting design concepts and elements to an extremely complicated user interface and database front end.  Jose has recently completed his internship and has received the ultimate reward — that of being offered a full-time position with Intellicom.

Congratulations, Jose!
