2009 High School Intern of the Year PDF Print E-mail

The Technology Celebration Award for High School Intern of the Year recognizes a high school student intern who has contributed substantially to his or her employing organization, has an excellent work ethic, and/or has superior technical skills deserving of recognition.

Josh Doten
Student at Norfolk High School
Intern at Connecting Point

Josh is a senior and participant of the Technology Academies of Northeast Nebraska (TANN) program at Northeast Community College. The TANN program offers high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to take advanced-level technology classes while earning high school credit and receiving college credit with free tuition.

For the past year, Josh has been an intern at Connecting Point in Norfolk which is an Internet, consulting and network-integration company. At Connecting Point Josh repairs and networks computers and installs software.

Rick Spotanski, Josh’s technology instructor, said Josh’s “ability with a computer has no boundaries.  Josh has introduced his fellow classmates and instructors to the Linux operating system and expanded the Cisco curriculum to incorporate students’ ideas. Josh is one of those few students whose internal drive outpaces any teacher’s ability. He is a sponge for knowledge and an artist for demonstrating what he knows. As an individual, he is polite, respectful and courteous in every aspect of his life.”

For these reasons and many more, Josh Doten is the High School Intern of the Year.

Congratulations, Josh!
