Building Nebraska’s Technology Talent Ecosystem, Since 1991.

In the 1980s, a series of financial crises and job losses left business, education, and government leaders increasingly concerned about the future of Nebraska’s economy.

Several studies commissioned to investigate the region’s economic future found Nebraska was well-positioned to take advantage of robust telecommunications and IT infrastructure. At the same time, there was a critical shortage in the availability of skilled tech workers to support growing reliance on technology.

The conclusion was that a new neutral, non-partisan and not-for-profit organization should be formed. And thus in 1992, the Applied Information Management Institute was born.

For 35 years, AIM Institute has helped shape the growth of technology talent in Nebraska. Today, we are evolving beyond a traditional program provider into something more powerful:

AIM is the connective infrastructure that brings together learners, employers, educators, and communities to build a thriving technology ecosystem.

We don’t just train and educate technology talent: we develop, connect, and scale the systems that power a stronger tech workforce and a more competitive region.

We Help Build Those That Shape The Future Of Technology

Our Story

AIM was founded with a clear purpose: to expand access to technology careers and strengthen the regional workforce.

That work continues, but the scale and urgency of today’s opportunity demands more.

Nebraska’s future depends on its ability to:

  • Grow and retain technology talent

  • Create equitable access to high-wage careers

  • Align education, industry, and community

  • Compete nationally as a technology hub

AIM exists at the center of that challenge and the solution. Today, AIM operates as both:

  • A provider of high-quality programs and experiences, and

  • A connector and catalyst across the entire tech ecosystem

We bring together:

  • Students and career seekers

  • Employers and industry leaders

  • Educators and training partners

  • Philanthropic, civic, and public sector stakeholders

Because real impact doesn’t happen in silos, it happens through intentional connection and shared infrastructure.

Our Mission

AIM elevates technology talent through lifelong learning.
