A tech career shouldn't depend on your zip code or your bank account. SWIFTT makes sure it doesn't.

SWIFTT is an accelerated technology training program built to address the shortage of qualified tech workers in the Midwest. Courses are taught both in-person at Southwest Iowa community locations and virtually, so wherever you are, there's a path in.

Fully funded by the Charles E. Lakin Foundation and delivered by ATX instructors, SWIFTT offers free, accelerated tech training for Southwest Iowa residents. Zero tuition, zero cost.

SWIFTT offers a structured learning pathway from foundational skills to specialization

Specialization courses require completion of a Foundations course or 3+ months of hands-on experience.

Evening classes

Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:30–9:30 p.m.

Multiple cohorts per year

New sessions run through spring, summer, and fall

Class sizes are capped at 15 students per instructor, ensuring personalized attention.

SWIFTT is open to Southwest Iowa residents, specifically:

  • Young adults ages 16–24 (high school seniors eligible with a waiver)

  • Adults 18 and older

  • Workers looking to start or transition into a tech career

No prior experience required, just basic computer literacy and a willingness to show up.

After Graduation

SWIFTT connects students with employers and provides:

  • Job leads and career fair invitations

  • Resume and LinkedIn profile feedback

  • Mock interview practice
